On 20 March 2024, researchers from the University of Bologna took center stage at the NovelFarm 2024 fair, an event dedicated to cutting-edge growing systems. This dynamic two-day gathering brought together over 600 visitors and 80 speakers from 15 countries, making it a hub for professionals in the agricultural industry.
The event highlighted the latest innovations in open-field cultivation, vertical farming, and advanced techniques like soilless systems, aquaponics, aeroponics, and hydroponics. It provided a unique opportunity for attendees to explore how these advancements are shaping the future of sustainable agriculture.
Among the highlights was the presentation of the LOFT Project, which focuses on sustainable local food systems. The University of Bologna researchers shared insights into how LOFT’s innovative approaches are addressing critical challenges in food production, such as digitalization of local food producers and promotion of local food consumption.
